ATTENTION PARENTS OF STUDENTS IN GRADES 4!!!

From mid January to the end of February, Alberta Education will be conducting the annual Accountability Pillar Survey. The Accountability Pillar Survey uses a set of 16 indicators consisting of surveys of students, parents and teachers on various aspects of education quality. In mid-January, parents of students in grades 4, 7 and 10 across Alberta will receive a survey from Alberta Education in the mail which can be returned directly to Alberta Education in the self-addressed, stamped envelope provided.

In February, students in grades 4 and all teachers will be completing their surveys online at school. Survey results will be available to jurisdictions in May, and will be reported publicly by jurisdictions as part of their 3-Year Education Plans and Annual Education Results Reports. All surveys are anonymous and ask respondents about their experiences with their school.

The Accountability Pillar Survey provides an opportunity for Alberta Education, school authorities and local schools to ensure that we’re equipping students for success. Your participation in the survey is very important, so we encourage you to return your survey promptly.

I would like to point out that answering “I don’t know” to a question is treated as a negative response (disagree) to that question. It would be more beneficial for us if parents answered either “Strongly Agree”, “Agree”, “Disagree” or “Strongly Disagree”. This would give us a clearer indication of how parents felt we were doing on this indicator.

If you require more information to answer a particular question, please contact Dr. Bettesworth or Ms. Sharpe at the school. On behalf of Captain John Palliser School, thank you for taking the time to provide us with valuable feedback regarding the educational services we provide your child. Please contact me at the school if you have any further questions regarding this survey.
