Materials Needed

In order to address the curriculum outcomes for the Building Devices and Vehicles that Move Science unit, we are planning on collecting materials for our final project.

The project is focused on creating innovative and creative toys (recycle items) that do not require batteries or electricity. Students will take on the role of toy designers and will design toy prototypes that incorporate simple machines to meet curriculum outcomes.
To facilitate this process, we would appreciate it if you could contribute some of the materials for this project. These elements should be common, recyclable items that are listed below:

  • Wooden skewers
  • Tetley Tea Tins
  • Round lids (e.g. pop bottle, milk jug lids,)
  • Cardboard (e.g. cereal boxes, corrugated cardboard)
  • Plasticine
  • Duct tape
  • Straws
  • Paper towel rolls
  • Tissue boxes
  • Wrapping paper rolls
  • Paper/plastic cups
  • Plastic bottles
If you have any questions or concerns, please contact your child’s classroom teacher. Thank you for your ongoing support in our learning!
