Grade 3 math homework

Hello Grade 3 parents,

I hope you had a great week and weekend. The grade threes have two things to do for homework this weekend.

1) Ask your parent how they use math for their job. The students are to ask you how you use addition and subtraction for your job. It would also helpful if your child brings a picture of you in as well. They will be making a word problem about your job for example.

Ms. Youngblood's Dad is a salesman on November 30th he sold 345 dollars worth of product to customer A and sold 572 dollars worth of product to customer B. How much total earnings did Ms. Youngblood's Dad make today?

They do not need to have the word problem written yet. They only need to have an example to put into a word problem.

2)  If the students could please do the following addition and subtraction questions over the weekend.  They are to use one strategy per question that we have done in class. Strategies we have done are regrouping, borrowing, break apart, open number line and adding on. The students should know all of these and be able to to tell you how to use them.

Addition

1) 54+37               2) 65+91             3)472+321 .    4) 603+ 398       5) 782+584

Subtraction

1) 67-43             2) 93-27             3)764-356        4) 967-432         5) 642-392

Thank you for your constant support of your child's learning.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Kind reagards,

Ms. Youngblood
