Weekend Update

Dear families,

We hope you have enjoyed your week as much as we have here in Room 10 and 11! Here's some highlights of our learning this week.

English Language Arts
Room 11 has been working on some research and note taking skills. We've also started typing up our stories and learning how to use Google Drive as responsible digital citizens. In room 10, we have finished our rocket ship stories and learned about the peer editing process.

Science
We're working in groups to develop our action plans on how to reduce waste and make a meaningful difference in our community. Ask me what me and my group are working on!

Rocks and Rings
Our gym has transformed into an ice-less curling rink and we're learning all about how to play this sport, what the rules are, and some of the words. Ask me what the house is!

Art
Did you know that real artists develop their skills by studying other artists? That's what we've been doing with Dale Chihuly, an American glassblower with an eyepatch. Check out some of his work here and here! After studying his style, we began planning our own designs for plastic sculptures using old drink bottles by sketching lots of ideas and colour combinations before starting. Ask me about some of my designs!

For next week

Healthy Snack challenge

The comprehensive school health club is putting on the healthy snack challenge. It is starting on Monday and will continue for the rest of the month of December. We will be looking at how many healthy snacks we have in every class as well as discussing what a healthy snack is.

Rocks and Rings

Rocks and rings is continuing next week. Room 10 has it on Monday and Room 11 has it on Wednesday. Please insure that your child is wearing comfortable clothing on these days.

French

Students have a French quiz on basic body parts, shapes, colours and numbers on Tuesday Dec 4. Here's the study guide from Mrs. Schulz:

Wishing you a restful rejuvenating weekend,

Ms. Tang and Ms. Youngblood
